The BCITMA Committee Structure
Know which committee you want to be a part of?
The Finance Committee works to keep the finances of BCITMA open, well-organized, and understandable. Our main goal is to make accurate, simple-to-understand reports that give executives the tools they need to make decisions confidently.
We track and audit financial operations closely to ensure accountability and build trust across the organization. Above the numbers, our work is focused on the big picture and helping the BCITMA achieve its goals while maintaining financial sustainability. By making all of this information accessible and reliable, we aim to make financial information beneficial to all members of the club.
The VP of Operations is the backbone of BCITMA, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. This role is best suited for someone who is organized, proactive, and reliable. Key responsibilities include managing logistics for weekly meetings, booking spaces for events, coordinating with BCITSA departments, and supporting inter-team communication. You’ll also oversee major events such as General Meetings and the AMA International Collegiate Conference in Chicago. By keeping operations on track and deadlines managed, you empower the executive team to perform at their best and help BCITMA thrive throughout the year.
The BCIT Marketing Association (BCITMA) Case Team is a group of ambitious students selected to represent BCIT in national and international case competitions. Each year, the team tackles real-world business challenges and presents strategic solutions to panels of executives, industry leaders, and academics. Members sharpen skills in research, strategic planning, storytelling, and persuasive communication while working under pressure. Guided by faculty advisors and industry mentors, the team develops leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking. As one of BCITMA’s flagship initiatives, the Case Team connects classroom learning with practical application and prepares students to become future marketing leaders.
Student Outreach
The mentorship focuses on building connections between first and second-year students to support a smooth transition into BCIT. Through structured pairings, mentees gain guidance from mentors who will provide insights on academics, campus life, and career opportunities. This mentorship helps encourage confidence, growth and skill development, all while ensuring students feel more connected to BCIT and its community. Mentors also benefit from developing their leadership and communication skills to creating a mutually beneficial relationship. Overall, the committee provides a valuable opportunity for learning, growth, and community involvement.
Schmoozapalooza is organized by a dedicated 2nd year digital marketing student committee from BCIT’s Marketing Management program, working in collaboration with faculty and first year student volunteers.
In addition, approximately 25 volunteers, all current BCIT Marketing students assist with event-day operations, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for all attendees.
In total, the Schmoozapalooza committee is made up of 40–50 students who bring together their skills in event planning, marketing, and relationship building to deliver an engaging networking experience for students, alumni, and industry professionals.
The events committee organizes various functions throughout the school year to provide students with networking and professional development opportunities and fun fundraising opportunities for the BCITMA. This allows students to escape from school activities and have some fun, all while putting their planning skills to work.
This includes events such as ticketed student outings, bake sales, Christmas movie nights, Krispy Kreme fundraisers, and industry panels.
As the largest student-led BCIT marketing conference, ARC offers members a unique opportunity to experience the behind-the-scenes of event planning. The conference itself brings together students to participate in workshops and competitions, hear from industry speakers, and gain valuable insights through panel discussions-all while networking with other students and industry attendees.
As a member, you’ll play a hands-on role in sponsorship outreach, securing speakers, developing event branding, and coordinating logistics. ARC is the place to sharpen your marketing skills, meet new people, and gain real world experience in organizing a major event.
Community Outreach
The Consulting Committee provides students the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience by tackling real business challenges alongside external clients. As one of the few BCITMA committees that partners directly with organizations, Consulting offers a unique advantage by helping you build practical experience and strengthen your resume early in your program.
In addition to client projects, you’ll collaborate with a team of talented peers, creating opportunities to learn from one another and expand your professional network. If you’re passionate about problem-solving and eager to take on real-world challenges with a supportive team, Consulting is the committee for you!
The Sponsorship Committee is the place where classroom learning meets real-world sales. As a member, you’ll gain hands-on experience in prospecting, outreach, pitching, and closing deals with industry partners. You won’t just learn about sales; you’ll practice it, develop the confidence to approach professionals, and build connections that last beyond school.
Every sponsorship directly supports the success of our events and initiatives, giving you the chance to see the real impact of your work. If you’re motivated, ambitious, and looking for a head start in a sales career, Sponsorship is the committee that will challenge you, grow your skills, and set you apart.
Often called the heart of BCITMA, the Community Relations committee is dedicated to connecting students with meaningful opportunities to give back. Through fundraising events, volunteer initiatives, and impact-driven projects, we work to create an inclusive and service-oriented environment that encourages both personal growth and community impact.
Creative Support
The Creative and Branding team designs fun, eye-catching graphics using tools like Canva and Adobe. By incorporating BCITMA colours, logos, and fonts, we build brand awareness and recognition for the club.
We create Instagram posts, LinkedIn content, event posters, and collaborate with Communications and Digital Marketing on graphics for the website and newsletter, The Core. If you’re passionate about digital design and want to share your creativity with like-minded students, this is the team for you!
As the faces of BCITMA, we create engaging social media content that showcases the active and vibrant lifestyle of BCITMA members. The Digital Marketing Committee continues to build an original and genuine online presence across various platforms, including Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn. If you're looking to attain hands-on experience in digital marketing, social media & brand strategy, and collaborate alongside a passionate team, the Digital Marketing Committee is the perfect place to start!
The Communications Committee is responsible for maintaining the website, including updating the calendar and responding to questions submitted through the contact form. The committee also handles email and SMS messages sent out to members and stakeholders. Gaining valuable experience, the Communications Committee plays a vital role in regularly informing everyone about BCITMA events and activities.
President & Vice President
The President & Vice-President of the BCIT Marketing Association (BCITMA) are responsible for the club’s overall leadership and strategic direction. They represent the BCITMA as its primary spokespeople for internal and external stakeholders.
In addition, they guide the Executive Board, which leads the various committees that comprise the BCITMA, developing the club’s chapter plan and subsequent annual report to the American Marketing Association (AMA). Furthermore, they supervise the planning and execution of events, ensuring they meet the BCITMA’s standards and objectives.
First Year Liaisons
The role of a First Year Liaison is to bridge the gap between BCITMA and other first-year students. As a familiar face and source of information, First Year Liaisons keep students informed and excited about events, workshops, and growth opportunities.
First-year liaisons are also responsible for planning an event exclusively for first-year students. This event will be an opportunity to make new friends, learn organizational skills, and have fun!
Aside from student engagement, First Year Liaisons are given the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of how student-led organizations operate.
