Meet Lauren Cadiente

February 2023 Edition

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

Name: Lauren Cadiente (She/Her)
BCITMA Position: VP of events

Why did you join the BCITMA?
"I was very interested in all the amazing events this club offered, and I wanted to be a part of something of this scale. I knew this would be a challenge, so that excited me more!”

What does your role look like as a VP of your committee?
”VP of Events is super interesting! You are meeting people from the industry, organizing ways to bring students together and supporting the other committees in their events.”

Do you have any experiences you would like to share from your time as a VP?
My favourite experience as a VP so far was planning the Halloween event for BCITMA. I was not sure how many students would be interested in attending and if I gave myself enough time to prepare everything. In the end, there were about 120 attendees, and everyone had the best time.”

How do you keep your personal and work/school life balanced?
Scheduling is the best way I keep my work/school life balanced. I have all my study sessions booked to the hour, including breaks. I also schedule time out every week to do an activity that I enjoy and give myself a day to spend with my loved ones.”

Can you share what you’ve learned so far with BCITMA?
”BCITMA has taught me how to network efficiently with other students and people out in the industry. They also taught me how to leverage my connections and how to problem solve.”

Any tips or tricks you would like to share with Marketing students?
”LinkedIn is your best friend! Always send a note when you connect with someone if you don’t know them personally. It will help the person understand why you are connecting and tell them a little about yourself.”
