Marketing Week Recap 2020/2021

Another successful Marketing Week put on by the BCITMA! This event is intended to inspire, excite, and motivate the Marketing students for their future at BCIT and beyond. Although this year’s event was hosted virtually, the amount of information was not missed! Let’s reflect on what happened.

Day 1: BCIT Alumni Panel - Virtual Meeting Invitation From Your Alumni

The BCITMA welcomed back past alumni to come share their knowledge, career process, and helpful tips for our students. We had five alumni participating in the panel; Brad Dubé from Google, Stephanie Johnson from the Vancouver Convention Centre, Shaina Walker from Oceanwise, Allen Roh from Lululemon, and Jieun Segal from Major Tom. Reminiscing from the endless nights at BCIT, to what they were able to carry on into their careers. The panel was overall insightful and a great learning experience for all attendees.

Day 2: Lindsey Noyes from Lululemon - Entering A Digital World

We hosted a Digital Marketing Workshop with the help of previous BCIT Marketing Communications Graduate; Lindsey Noyes, Director of Digital Marketing at Lululemon. She provided an in-depth look into the digital marketing created at Lululemon, while educating attendees on what marketing tools to use. She also shared knowledge that she carried with her from BCIT and how it is applied in her daily life in her career.

Day 3: Megan Simpson from Traction on Demand - Upgrade Your Connections

The BCITMA welcomed back Megan Simpson, Talent Acquisition Lead at Traction on Demand. She discussed the importance of an effective LinkedIn Profile, specifically what recruiters will be looking for once students enter the industry. Megan was kind enough to take a personal look at attendees profiles to provide advice, tips, and feedback!

Day 4: Rupert Dobson from Bunim Murray Productions - Upload Your Perfect Pitch

Rupert Dobson; Senior Vice President of Development at Bunim Murray Productions, shared his tips on how to prepare the perfect pitch. He presented an exclusive step-by-step on how he sold the show Titan Games (with Dwayne The Rock Johnson) to NBC. (Doesn’t get better than the Rock!)

Marketing Week has provided an incredible opportunity to receive first hand advice and guidance from those who have been in our position and are currently in careers we strive to achieve for ourselves.

A huge thank you Eileen Bui; VP of Membership, for organizing and taking the time to find amazing panelists, you were a great host. Thank you to all the attendees and guests for kicking off the BCIT Marketing Association’s 2020/2021 year!
