It is an honour to serve as the 2019-2020 President for the BCIT Marketing Association, I am eager to meet our new and returning members, address your interests and concerns, and help make the MA one of the Top five collegiate chapters in the American Marketing Association.
The BCITMA is the longest standing and premier club for marketing students at BCIT. The MA’s main focus is to provide our members with an opportunity to learn from industry professionals outside of the classroom. With 11 different committees to join, from professional development to communications to events to corporate relations, the MA provides a way for members to use and perfect their new skills and knowledge prior to entering the workforce. At the end of each academic year, we showcase our work and compete in New Orleans at the AMA annual conference to hold our position as one of the best 380 collegiate chapters.
Our year will focus on connecting students to industry professionals, creating opportunities for students to showcase their talents and skills, and help members captivate their potential future employers.
The 2018-2019 year was a record-breaker and we are excited to set new goals and push the bar higher. We raised more than $50,000 in corporate sponsorships, supported 100 members, our regional conference was attended by four different schools, and we placed in the Top 10 at the New Orleans annual AMA conference.
As we start the new year, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of last year’s executives and graduating members for their incredible work and time spent on the MA. I would also like to thank and welcome the incoming board of executives for their hard work and dedication over the summer in planning for the exciting year ahead.
With many of our events already set up, I would like to personally invite you to Marketing Week, one of our first major events where we will be going on an industry tour, learning from alumni, marketing specialists in the field, and networking with some of Vancouver’s top marketers from the BCAMA.
If you see one of our board members around campus feel free to stop us in the hallway and pitch an idea or just take a moment and connect with us! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn to stay updated on our events, opportunities, and everything else AMA-zing!
I look forward to meeting you, learning beside you, and working with you this year.
