The Finance Committee oversees the financial activities of the BCITMA. The committee’s goal is to provide accurate and up-to-date financial records to make strategic decisions, ensure accountability, and provide financial transparency to key stakeholders. They collaborate with other club committees to allocate financial resources that will help achieve their goals. Ensuring all budgets and reports are properly documented, the committee is responsible for recording transactions and cash flows. Lastly, the Finance Committee prepares and presents financial reports to officers, members, corporate sponsors, and other stakeholders to provide valuable information about BCITMA’s operations and financial position.
The main purpose of the integrated marketing committee is to organize the Annual Regional Conference, held every January. By participating in this committee, members gain valuable insight and hands on experience in learning how to host large scale events. The committee members will assist the Director and Vice President in organizing this event. The Regional Conference is the BCITMA’s largest event, hosting over 150 students from six schools who join us to compete, learn, and network. These schools will have student representatives who will be competing in four marketing-based competitions. Participants in this committee create long lasting connections with event sponsors, speakers, competitors, and peers.
The main objective of the Sponsorship Committee at the BCITMA is to acquire internal and external resources. By connecting with different companies and building relationships with contacts, we hope to acquire money, donations or anything with monetary value, in order to support the functionality of the BCITMA. Committee members benefit from the connections they make with sponsors, valuable real-world experience, and the cohesiveness of working with other committees on specific events and projects. We hope to build a strong team and help new and existing members to gain the experience necessary for success within the club, BCIT, and the future.
Digital media is constantly evolving and the BCITMA aims to stay up to date with current trends, improvements, and changes in industry. The Digital Media Committee builds the BCITMA website, handles all social media postings and finds new ways of marketing our club in the online world. Collaborating closely with the Communications Committee, we brainstorm creative objectives to enhance BCIT’s Marketing Association to represent our school and peers. Students who are interested in site building and passionate about social media are encouraged to join the journey of BCITMA’s online presence!
The Advertisement and Promotions committee plans and designs creative content and print ads in collaboration with other committees in order to promote upcoming events or projects. Being a member of this committee will expose you to InDesign, photoshop, and more. This committee designs and helps coordinate BCITMA branded miscellaneous items. Coordinate media efforts with other creative committees to ensure premium branding and exposure.
Corporate Relations (CR) is a student-run business management and consulting team. Our mission is to provide industry-standard work for clients, while developing individual skills and providing real life application for our members. Corporate Relations partners with BCIT clubs, businesses and start-ups each year, to provide marketing knowledge and skills. Our services are provided at a very reasonable price.
The Communications committee does just that, we communicate! Whether it be internal, external, or social media, every form or realm of communication is managed through Communications. It includes a variety of tools including big newsletters email, small single focused emails, member, VP, and Committee spotlights and creating fun, fresh, and fluent content to highlight all of the amazing things going on in the BCITMA this year. If you’re interested in writing, content creating, meeting new people, and having tons of fun with social media, Communications is right for you!
The overall objective of the Membership committee is the recruitment of new members and the organization of current members. This committee organizes the processing of new members’ information and updates with current members of the BCITMA. By networking and drawing potential members to the MA through planned events such as marketing week, clubs day, and orientation week, the committees’ overall goal is to expand the club members’ numbers. When it comes to current members, the VP of the committee is to account for all member’s hours in order to measure the level of success through member contributions.
The Professional Development committee is focused on planning Schmoozapooloza in January. This event connects marketing students with potential employers in a night of speed networking, mingling, and fun! Additionally, this committee collaborates with Corporate Relations to facilitate monthly industry tours. In all, the Professional Development team’s goal is to foster a connection between the workforce and marketing students at BCIT.
Have a passion for hosting? The BCITMA Events committee would be a perfect fit for you! This committee is responsible for creating multiple events throughout the year for members and fellow BCIT students to enjoy. The responsibilities of this committee consists of fundraising for charities, hosting social networking events, and providing professional development events for members. Members of this committee need to be creative, clever, and be able to be enthusiastic leaders. Members gain valuable insight into how the BCITMA collaborates with other clubs, BCIT, and the Student Association.
The Community Relations committee serves as the heart of the BCITMA. Members are given the opportunity to give back to the community and support important causes through this committee. Through volunteerism, fundraising, special projects and initiatives, members work with local organizations to show their appreciation for the local community and the people in it. Expect fundraisers of all sizes, consulting projects, and social impact causes!
The case competition is the most coveted competition of the American Marketing Association. During the fall semester, the Case Team prepares an integrated marketing communications plan for a client. Over 150 institutions across the United States and Canada compete to have their case presented at the Collegiate Conference in New Orleans every spring.
